The Department of World Languages and Cultures enhances the liberal arts education of our students and prepares them for success in today’s global society. In addition to Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s diverse and urban setting, which is an ideal environment for studying world languages and cultures, our faculty members are student-focused and committed to educating the next generation of teachers and multilingual speakers.
We offer one major, three minors, general education courses, and instruction in seven languages, which all Â鶹´«Ã½ students can take as general electives. Many of our graduates go on to become language educators, but the possibilities for those with expertise in other languages and cultures are numerous: most corporations, government agencies, educational institutions, hospitals, and nonprofits are eager to hire multilingual talent. For the same reason, a minor in other languages and cultures is an excellent supplement to the education of all majors and it gives a crucial competitive advantage to any professional on the job market.
