JERSEY CITY, N.J. | New 鶹ý City University (鶹ý) joins the entire State of New 鶹ý in mourning the sudden and tragic passing of trailblazing New 鶹ý Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver on August 1, 2023.
New 鶹ý City University Interim President Andrés Acebo joined leaders from across the state in paying tribute to Lieutenant Gov. Oliver. His tribute was also published alongside other leaders in the .
President Acebo issued the following statement:
“Few can shape history with grace and the genuine servant leadership to leave things better than they found them. Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver was a kind and fierce advocate whose example is worthy of emulation by everyone with a heart and mind dedicated to service and community. She made us better.
She was a trailblazer who pulled her community forward along with her.
On our beautifully diverse and vibrant campus the power of her example and legacy will continue to illuminate the path for the tens of thousands that will follow her because of what she so compassionately championed.”
