NJDEP Recognizes �鶹��ý for Making the Campus an Electric Vehicle Ready Workplace

New �鶹��ý City University (�鶹��ý) has been recognized by the New �鶹��ý Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) as a winner in the NJ Charging Challenge: Electrifying Your Workplace competition.

The NJDEP chose �鶹��ý as one of six employers in New �鶹��ý that is making its workplace electric-vehicle ready.

�鶹��ý installed five Level 2 charging stations in the Michael B. Gilligan Student Union garage on the University’s main campus in �鶹��ý City. The installation was made possible through NJDEP’s It Pays to Plug In: NJ’s Electric Vehicle Workplace Charging Grant Program.

In announcing the awards, the NJDEP stated, “By providing workplace charging for electric vehicles, these employers are becoming more sustainable and are helping to reduce emissions of air pollutants from cars, improve our environment, and improve the bottom line for their employees that drive to work.”  All employers are invited to participate in the competition – private, government, educational, and non-profit organizations or corporations.

The awards were presented at the 2017 Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards ceremony on December 11 at the New �鶹��ý State Museum in Trenton.

�鶹��ý’s electric vehicle charging stations are dedicated for workplace charging for students, faculty, and staff.

The charging stations are overseen and managed by �鶹��ý’s Fleet Management Director Patrick M. Bartole within the Department of Facilities and Construction. Fleet Management works in collaboration with the University’s Public Safety and Parking offices to keep the electric vehicle initiative running smoothly.
