Keynote: Lawrence Hamm, President of People’s Organization for Progress

�鶹��ý City, N.J., January 11, 2018 – Lawrence Hamm, a civil rights and social justice activist and president of the People’s Organization for Progress (POP), spoke at New �鶹��ý City University’s 29th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Sponsored by �鶹��ý’s Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center led by Will Guzman, the theme for this year’s celebration was “The Politics of War & Militarism in a Post-King Era.”

MLK Scholarships were presented by BAAFSSO President Leah Jackson to Nasir McDaniels and Rashad Wright.

Venida C. Rodman Jenkins, M. Div., Director, �鶹��ý Speicher-Rubin Women's Center for Equity and Diversity was name the Community Service Honoree.

The �鶹��ý Unity Ensemble, directed by Dr. Meridia Warren performed selections.
