Â鶹´«Ã½ City, N.J., January 11, 2018 – Lawrence Hamm, a civil rights and social justice activist and president of the People’s Organization for Progress (POP), spoke at New Â鶹´«Ã½ City University’s 29th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
Sponsored by Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center led by Will Guzman, the theme for this year’s celebration was “The Politics of War & Militarism in a Post-King Era.â€
MLK Scholarships were presented by BAAFSSO President Leah Jackson to Nasir McDaniels and Rashad Wright.
Venida C. Rodman Jenkins, M. Div., Director, Â鶹´«Ã½ Speicher-Rubin Women's Center for Equity and Diversity was name the Community Service Honoree.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Unity Ensemble, directed by Dr. Meridia Warren performed selections.
