Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Speicher-Rubin Women’s Center to Host Virtual Discussion on Eliminating Racial Disparities in Maternal and Infant Mortality

New Â鶹´«Ã½ First Lady Tammy Murphy to Deliver Opening Remarks

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (±·´³°ä±«)’s Speicher-Rubin Women's Center for Equity and Diversity will host a virtual Community Hour event entitled “Eliminating Racial Disparities in Maternal and Infant Mortality†on Thursday, February 11 from 2-3:30 p.m.

New Â鶹´«Ã½ First Lady Tammy Murphy — a champion on the issue of maternal and infant health since the inception of the Murphy Administration in 2018 — will deliver opening remarks to highlight the powerful and impactful program.

On January 25, the First Lady, unveiled the – a strategy to reduce New Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s high rates of maternal and infant mortality, and eliminate the racial disparities responsible for these deaths.

The panel discussion will include:

  • Dr. Michele Griffith, Founder,, Charlotte, N.C.
  • , Instructor and Interim Program Director at Rutgers
  • , Research Sociologist at Stanford
  • Moderated by , an award-winning public radio journalist

In addition to a panel discussion, the audience will view videos that highlight the severity of the issue of racial disparities in maternal and infant mortality in New Â鶹´«Ã½ and throughout the nation.
