Â鶹´«Ã½ Announces April 2018 Arts Events
New Â鶹´«Ã½ City University (Â鶹´«Ã½) Center for the Arts, the creative umbrella for the University’s performing, visual, film, and literary arts activities, announces its arts and cultural programming for April 2018.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Center for the Arts and the Â鶹´«Ã½ City Free Public Library welcome filmmaker and author Parvez Hussein Sharma, an openly gay Muslim who documented his pilgrimage to Mecca in his award-winning film A Sinner in Mecca, and the new book of the same name (April 12).
Â鶹´«Ã½ continues its partnership with the Liberty Science Center with a presentation on Dance for Parkinson's Disease (Dance for PD®), an internationally acclaimed program of movement classes for people with Parkinson’s. Program Director David Leventhal will present on Dance for PD®, using it as a case study for looking at the intersection of arts and science (April 17).
In Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s galleries, _gaia, the Â鶹´«Ã½ City based artist collective, presents Wonder Woman 11, an all-female group show that speaks to our rapidly changing Earth (on view through May 9). Off campus, the 22 members of the 2018 graduating class exhibit their BFA thesis projects at the Harborside Atrium (April 8-26).
At the end of the month, Â鶹´«Ã½ is honored to host the West Point Band, one of the nation’s premiere music ensembles, with a free evening of music that includes toe-tapping military marches and a medley from Broadway hit, Les Miserables (April 30).
